Becoming a BTS ARMY is something I will never regret. What started as simple curiosity turned into an experience that brought me comfort, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. This is my story of how BTS entered my life—and why they stayed. I do not regret one bit.
Before BTS Came Into the Picture
I’ll be honest that I was very ignorant about K-pop. I thought the concept was cringe. Don’t ask—LOL. I was extremely uptight about the genre and never imagined myself enjoying it. However, after becoming an ARMY, my perspective completely changed. I now understand and appreciate the creativity and meaning behind it all.
What First Caught My Interest
One day at work, I was casually scrolling through Facebook when I stopped at a post that read, “First K-pop group to perform at the AMAs (American Music Awards).” I don’t usually follow music award shows, so I wasn’t aware of this event. Since I was still on the clock, I told myself I’d watch the performance during my break.
At the time, I knew absolutely nothing about BTS and had never heard of them.
When 8 a.m. finally came, I went to the break room and played the performance. I had no expectations and didn’t know what I was about to watch. I figured that I should just give it a shot, and that even if I didn’t like it, at least I could say I tried.
My First Impression of BTS

The song that BTS performed was DNA.
The first few seconds of the song, I was genuinely shocked. The melody was catchy. Then when the chorus hit and the beat dropped, I was instantly pulled in. I wouldn’t say I became an ARMY immediately, but I was amazed. I was also much more open to K-pop than before.
One thing that stood out to me was their choreography. The dance transitions were incredibly smooth and every beat of the song was hit perfectly. I truly appreciated the precision and synchronicity. There was no denying their talent—each and every member brought something special to the performance.
Falling Down the BTS ARMY Hole
Before even looking up their names or the song, I knew I wanted to see more. I searched “BTS performance,” and the first video I clicked on was their Blood, Sweat & Tears / Fire 2016 MMA stage.
Now, that performance changed everything.
From the moment it started, I was speechless. The effort put into the stage was unreal. BTS didn’t do the bare minimum—it was clearly go big or go home. That level of dedication impressed me deeply, especially since not many artists would go that far.
It was also my first time hearing the songs performed during that stage, and they were completely my cup of tea. From that point on, I knew I wanted to learn more—not just about their music, but about who BTS truly was.
Getting to Know BTS

I started learning about the members. The first member who caught my attention during the DNA performance was Jin. I couldn’t help but be amazed by how good-looking he was.
Soon after, I discovered their variety show, RUN BTS. At the time, only 29 episodes were released, but that didn’t stop me from binge-watching—LOL.
Beyond RUN BTS, there was endless content to explore: concerts, Bangtan Bombs, Memories, Summer and Winter Packages, Bon Voyage, dance practices, and so much more. There was never a dull moment.
Why BTS Means So Much to Me
As I watched more, I also began researching their concepts. Their concept at this time was Love Yourself: Her. Learning more about this concept, I quickly connected with the story BTS was telling. Every meaning resonated deeply with me.
I was going through one of the lowest points in my life at the time, so seeing BTS promote self-love made me appreciate them even more. Their message felt genuine and comforting.
Another thing that truly touched me was learning about their past. Reading about the hardships they faced broke my heart. Despite everything, they never gave up—and that resilience made me admire them deeply. It made me want to support them wholeheartedly.
Final Thoughts
And that’s my story. That is how I became a BTS Army.
I genuinely love everything about BTS—their music, their message, their performances, and their personalities. From their lowest moments to rising as global stars, they have always stayed true to themselves. That consistency, humility, and passion are why I’m proud to call myself an ARMY.
